5 lakhs passengers undertake travel in 3 days

In order to celebrate the important festival of Deepavali in their native places with their near and dear, around 5 Lakh individuals have travelled in the State Transport Corporation buses exclusively. It is expected an additional 1 Lakh passengers are set to travel today (Monday, 5th November).

The most prominent Hindu festival of the country, Deepavali, is set to be celebrated tomorrow (Tuesday, 6th November).  For this, a successive 4-days’ holidays have been announced from 3rd November to 6th November.

Hence, a large number of passengers have undertaken travel from 2nd November onwards by buses, trains, or own vehicles to other states to their native places.

For the public benefit, 3575 buses were operated from Chennai day-before-yesterday (3rd November). 3817 buses left Chennai yesterday. today, 3875 buses are set to leave Chennai, thus making up for a total of 11367 buses are to depart from Chennai.  From other places, 9200 buses are to be operated making up for a total of 20567 buses.

Exclusively on government buses, 1.52 Lakh passengers travelled on 2nd November. 2.21 Lakhs travelled on 3rd December. Until yesterday evening, 1.3 Lakh travelled. This makes up for a total of 5 Lakh passengers having travelled from Chennai alone. Further, it is expected that an additional 1 Lakh passengers are set to undertake travel today (Monday, 5th November) from Chennai.
