Mammoth Procession on Ayya Vaikundar Avatar Day

A mammoth procession on Monday has been arranged from Old Washermenpet in Chennai North on the eve of 181st birthday of Ayya Vaikundar, a great humanist and social thinker lived in the princely state of Trivandrum.

The procession to be inaugurated by A.Narayanan MLA and Latha Naryanan will start from Thangakili Thirumana Maligai in Narayanappa Naicken Street, according to the Managing Director, Thangakili Sweets P.Thangaperumal who is in charge for the celebration of Ayya’s birthday.
 Ayya’s Akila Thirattu will be kept on a chariot driven by two horses and will be taken in the mammoth procession at 6 AM. About thousands of Ayya’s followers will participate in the procession. 

The procession will be taken via Nallappa Vathiar Street, Ramanuja Street, Tondiayarpettai High Road, Thiruvottriyur, Ajax, Sathiyamurthy Nagar, TPL Andal Kuppam and  Manali Pudhunagar and will converge at Ayya Vaikundar Dharmapathy.
Then the celebration of the Ayya’s Avatar Day begins, with the participation of the Samathuva Makkal Party founder and leader Sarathkumar MLA.
In the function, mass- poor-feeding at 1 PM has been arranged and in the evening around 5.30 Ayya’s portraits will be taken in the vehicle of Thottil (cradle) and at 6 PM lighting of Vaikunta Torch (Vaikunta Jyothi) will be taking place.
At 7 PM, sweets for the devotees who attend the birthday celebration will be distributed.
Besides Mr P.Thangaperumal, the celebrations committee’s Joint Director S.Devadoss and several other members have been taken important roles for the success of the Ayya Vaikundar’s Avatar Day.
