Anya Seth Syed, a Grade 7 (ICSE) student of Greenwood High International School stood 1st in the All India National U15 Chess Championship under 1200 and 1400 category, held recently in Mysore. Around 300 boys and girls below 15 yrs. of age had participated in the event. She also won a prize of Rs.5000 and was ranked 2nd among the girls in the competition. With only 1 loss and 2 draws, Anya gained 45 rating points to secure the pole position in the competition.
Anya had undergone intense training and had spent her entire summer enhancing her skills and her passion for chess. She started her journey by participating in the Asian Games 2018 in Thailand and was a part of the Indian contingent. She played well and India achieved the first position overall in the competition. Anya was also part of the Indian contingent playing in the Common Wealth Games 2018 held in Delhi in June - July 2018 she had also participated in the National U13 Championship 2018 which were held in Ahmedabad in June 2018.
