Now, men can take paternity leave

The central government has planned to allow 730 days of paternity leave for male employees to take care of the infants.

Presently, the women employees having up to 2 children they are entitled to take leave 3 times during the year for the upkeep of the children – known as ‘child care leave’.

In a similar trend, the central government has planned to allow male employees who are either unmarried or divorcee or widower having lost his wife will be entitled to take a total of 730 days of leave (CCL – Child Care Leave) in their entire service period.

Accordingly, it is planned to deduct from the salary only in cases where the male employee has exceeded this quota of 730days. They can take up to a total of 730 days’ leave with salary.

100% salary will be paid for the 1st 365 days and 80% salary will be paid for the next 365 days. The related Act will be amended accordingly.

Besides this, the male employees can avail up to 15 days of leave just as the case of female employees being allowed to take 180 days of leave for the child-birth.
