Very soon it is likely that Airtel customers, especially prepaid subscribers will soon loose free incoming call support across India.

Airtel prepaid users have started receiving SMS suggesting them to have their talk-time balance at Rs 35 per month failing which they will not be able to receive any SMS or calls. This new rule is to be implemented from 3rd January 2019.

After the entry of Reliance Jio, all the telecom providers including Vodafone Idea and Airtel are badly affected and the entire industry is forced to lower their rates of tariff plans. Telecom providers such as Aircel and Telenor have struggled too high that they have even shut their operations.

Then, Airtel was the leader in telecom. They coped up with the lucrative data packs of Reliance jio. Vodafone and Idea could not cope with the plans and hence merged together into a single venture earlier this year.

There are reports that there is steep decline in the Average Rate per User pertaining to both Airtel and Vodafone. There are customer loss in both of these networks. They even come forward to bring down their pricing so much to retain their customer base.

The minimum balance for Vodafone Idea customers is cornered to be Rs 35 failing which incoming calls will be deactivated. Airtel leaves customers only with a warning message that incoming will be blocked and that it will come to effect next week.

It is likely that Airtel will lose about 50 to 70 million of its customers. However, Airtel says they are promising with the millions of users who are yet to get changed from feature phones to smartphones as Airtel gives them excellent service including entertainment on Airtel Wynk, music application that is offered in association with media streaming service. With that, Airtel believes, they can convince existing users to retain Airtel network and also attract new smartphone users with their offers.
