New Question format announced for the +1 and +2 Public Examinations

The state examination board of Tamil Nadu has announced a new format of question papers for the +1 and +2 public examinations. The public examinations for +1 is conducted as per the revised syllabus for the 1st time. In a similar trend, the Public examinations question papers will be in a new format for +2 public examination as well.

In a circular sent by the Director of the State Examination Board, Vasundhara Devi, it is mentioned:

‘For the subjects of English, Tamil, and other minority languages, there will be only 1 question paper instead of the earlier system of 2 question paper for these subjects (Paper-1 and Paper-2). The question paper is set for a total of 90 marks.

All subjects without the scope for any practical examinations and only theory lessons and Industrial education theory question paper will be set for a total of 90 marks.

For the subjects with practical examinations, the question paper will be set for 70 marks. The question paper for the subjects of  Biology and Botany/Zoology will be set for 35 marks each making up for a total of 70 marks.

As for the language question paper, the format will be 1 mark questions – 14, 2-marks questions – 12, 40marks questions – 7, and 6-marks question – 3 for the students to answer.

English question paper format will be 1 mark question – 20, 2-marks, 3-marks, and 5-marks questions – 7 each, Thus, the student`s need to answer 31 questions for a total of 90 marks.

Minority Language – The question paper format will be: 1-mark questions – 14, 2-marks questions- 12, 4-marks questions-7, and 6-marks questions – 4 making up for a total of 37 questions.

Subjects with practicals – 1-mark – 15, 2-marks and 3-marks questions – 6 each, 5-marks questions – 5 for a total of 32 questions with 70 marks.

For Biology – the question paper will be for 35 marks each separately for Botany and Zoology.

Each of these subjects will have question papers – 1-mark question-8, 2-marks questions- 4, 3-marks questions – 3, 5-marks question – 2 for a total of 17 questions carrying 35 marks.

For the subjects without practicals, the question paper format will be – 1-mark question – 20, 2-marks, 3-marks, and 5-marks questions – 7 each for a total of 41 questions.

Industrial Education ‘theory’ will be – 1-mark questions – 15, 30 marks questions – 10, 5-marks questions – 5, 10-marks questions – 2 for a total of 32 questions.

The concerned school officials will need to explain the above question papers with new formats clearly for better preparation.
