On Thursday, 17th January 2018 is the Kaanum Pongal day and it is the time for enjoyment for the people belonging to the state of Tamil Nadu. Many people go to places like Marina Beach, Vandalur Zoo, Besant Nagar Beach, MGM, Guindy Children’s Park etc to be happy with their family and friends is well known. For the benefit of the people, to accommodate the extra rush for this special occasion, MTC or Metropolitan Transport Corporation would be operating as many as 480 special buses in Chennai city.
As per an official release it is clear that the special buses of MTC would be connecting various bus terminals with famous tourist spots such as Vandalur Zoo, Anna Square, Mamallapuram, Besant Nagar plus other places like Kishkinta, MGM, VGP golden beach etc. These buses would have ‘special bus’ board on them and would be charged in 3 categories of ordinary, express and deluxe.
In the last 5 days a total of 7.17 lakh passengers have used special buses operated from Chennai to various districts in TN. It must be noted that as many as 1.8 lakh passengers have booked their tickets in advance and the state transport department got an amount of Rs 9.01 crores.
For the purpose of passengers return journey, 11000 buses would be operated from other districts to Chennai between 17th of January to 20th of January. The important point is more than 250 feeder services are being operated in addition to the already present operational fleet of buses. This would help the passengers to reach their places of destination in Chennai without any problem.
