Ashok Nagar in the Chennai city is an important residential locality. In this place just diagonally opposite to Ashok Nagar metro station is this TNHB or Tamil Nadu Housing Board shopping complex. The latest news that has come out is TNHB complex would soon be replaced by a new 22 storey residential cum commercial building. The important point is the state owned housing board has already stated demolishing the existing structure present at this prime location and new building with more than 220 flats would be built soon.
The information collected was in this upcoming building 18 floors would be earmarked for residential purpose and lower four floors would be used for commercial purposes. An official belonging to TNHB spoke about how his department would be constructing 226 apartment units in the 22 storey building in an area of 2.13 acres. He then added that each apartment units in the HIG or High Income Group residential complex would have 1200 sqft of space. It is known that the authorities have started pulling down the existing commercial complex structure
It is now confirmed by the sources that the steps are taken to award the tender in a month of time. The official then spoke about how it would take 2 years of time to complete the construction works and how substantial increase in the FSI or Floor Space Index and premium have come in handy for the high rise building. He finally expressed his happiness about this upcoming building that would be the tallest amongst the TNHB housing projects at places like K.K. Nagar, Mogappair and Koyambedu etc
