A professor from Mumbai University has invented a new technology to keep edible dishes such as idli ad upma for more than 3 years!
Dr. Vaisahali Bambole, a Physics Professor at Mumbai University has invented this new technology to keep steamed items like idli, upma, and dhokla for more than 3 or 4 years!
The professor shared her experience:
‘I have invented a technology, ‘Beam Radiation’, which helps keep steamed dishes like idli, upma, and dhokla fresh for very long durations without any additives. This technology helps keep the items fresh for long durations without any loss of taste or flavor.
Items which require a minimum amount of oil and protein were taken up for this research. Different food items were tested from the year 2013. However, the best results were obtained only for steamed items such as idli, upma, and dhokla.
The technology involves exposing the cooked dishes to ‘electron beam radiation’.`
Dr. Vaishali further informed that this invention of the new technology would be extremely beneficial/useful for the packaged food items distributed during national disaster remedy activities. It would also be useful for space research and the army.
