The administration of the Chennai Metro Rail has announced that today also (Tuesday, 12th February) the public can travel free in the Chennai Metro routes.
The last section of the 1st Phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, between DMS and Washermanpet, was inaugurated recently on 10th February. Subsequently, it had been announced that the public can travel free up to 11 PM yesterday night session.
In this situation, the higher officials of the Chennai Metro have announced that the public may travel free in the Chennai Metro Rail today as well (12th February).
As there was a major problem in the cables/wires in the High Voltage system between Saidapet and Little Mount, the Metro Rail Services were disrupted till 12.00 noon yesterday (11th February). The repair was done and the services were resumed. Only on yesterday alone (Monday, 11th February), more than 2 Lakhs passengers have travelled in the Chennai Metro Rail as per the details released.
As per this huge positive public response and to keep the public eagerness to travel in the Chennai Metro Rail, and to create awareness on this, it has been announced that the free services are to continue as a 3rd consecutive day today.
