What makes you feel extreme thirst?

Are you feeling extremely dry?: Do you often end up feeling extremely dry and parched? The very basic of life is water. No one could ever imagine a life without water. It is often said that drinking at least 3 litres of water is imperative in order to keep the body well hydrated. But you may still feel parched even if you drink the recommended amount. Also, in spite of drinking plenty of water, your hunger pangs may still be there. If this is the case you are going through, below are some of the reasons that may make you feel so:

Excessive salt consumption – you will feel very thirsty with excessive consumption of salt, as the salt you consume will take away the water content from the body cells. The cells will in turn intimate the brain that the body needs more water and this will give you the feel of thirst. Note the recommended amount of salt is 5 grams per day. Over consumption of salt will give rise to various health troubles. And you will need more than usual level of water intake.

Run in the morning – as you go for running in the morning, your body tends to need more of water because there is more of water content shed out as sweat while running. This has to be compensated by drinking fluids. So you finally end up feeling thirsty.

Extreme sun exposure – are you spending long hours under the sun? This yet again may make you feel thirsty. For this, it is not necessary that you do any hard physical activity under the sun. It is enough that your body gets subjected to the hot sun. So when you want to go for long hours under the sun, it is ideal that you carry a water bottle with you.

Are you diabetic? – Diabetes and dehydration are often misconceived. When you experience overmuch thirst or urination and get your vision blurring, these may be indications of diabetes. Without any panicking, go on and check out with your practitioner.

Got dry mouth? - Dry mouth is technically called xerostomia. This may also result in excessive thirst. This is a rare condition where there is not enough saliva produced by the salivary glands. Here again, you need to drink a lot of water.

Are you under medications? – Several medicines can cause dry mouth. The main ones are anticholinergics and diuretics. Under such situations, check out with the doctor.
