Nandanam is highly busy place in Chennai and there is always heavy traffic congestion at this place. The information is starting from the second week of April, Nandanam junction would be opened for 4-way traffic and this was confirmed by the traffic police.
It must be noted that the traffic here was disrupted and was made into 2- way when CMRL took over the part of the stretch for laying metro lines below Anna Salai in the year 2012. The superb piece of news is after 7 years of time now the motorists would be able to use this stretch from all the four sides. In the month of May in 2008, CMRL started metro rail services and only after couple of months later it handed the stretch to the traffic police to open it for regular traffic. The point is vehicular movement from both the sides are allowed now from Cenotaph Road and Nandanam signal.
It is worthy to note that vehicles on the Venkjatanarayana Road in T. Nagar take a long route to South Boug Road and Pondy Bazaar Road and then join Anna Salai. The vehicles also take Burkit Road and Mooparappan Street and then join Anna Salai.
To construct a median on the stretch of Venkatanarayana Road just before it joins Anna Salai, police belonging to Chennai have engaged some officials. The main purpose for this is to regulate the traffic. It is now brought out that the 2-wheelers have started using this stretch.
A resident of Lotus Colony belonging to Nandanam and who is employed at the supermarket near Natesan Park expressed his thoughts. He spoke about how it takes more than 10 minutes for him to reach the supermarket that is just a kilometre from his house. He was happy that he would be able to reach his work spot within few minutes of time in future.
