From every nook and corner we get news regarding road accidents these days. Many of these accidents kill the persons involved is known. Trauma care is very important in this situation.
The positive news that has come out now is the TN state government would be investing an amount of Rs 400 crores for upgrading trauma care facilities. By this the deaths due to the accidents could be brought down. This up gradation of trauma care facilities would be done in and around Chennai because Chennai city is one of the cities where high number of accidents takes place.
The important information is new hospitals plus trauma and emergency care centers would be built in Nazarathpet and Pallikaranai. In addition to this the facilities present in places like Injambakkam, Kancheepuram, Ponneri and Avadi would be upgraded. The money required for these works would be got from JICA or Japanese International Corporation Agency, TAEI or Tamil Nadu Accidents and Emergency Initiative, Tamil Nadu Road Systems Project and National Health Mission etc. It is now revealed that these facilities would be ready by the end of the year 2019.
Getting proper care within the golden hours of time in the suburban centers is very important. The point to be noted is the trauma care facilities along the GNT Road, GST Road and Chennai- Bengaluru highway would make sure that the accident victims would get proper care within the golden hours. Important information is they would also free up government hospitals in the Chennai city.
Popular neurosurgeon, Dr. Mariano Anto Bruno Mascarenhas , technical team adviser of TAEI, spoke about how it is very important t reduce the mortality of the accident victims. He added that attending the victims within the golden hour could improve the treatment outcomes. In the state of Tamil Nadu, improved signage, better illumination and installation of speed breakers have done tremendously in bringing down the number of accidents.
In the year 2016 there were as many as 16,092 accidents and in 2017 there were as many as 15,061. The above statistics show that the number of accidents has come down and this was according to the State Crime Records Bureau. The important piece of information is in Chennai city in the year 2016 there were 1155 accidents and it increased to 1264 in the year 2017. It is revealed that Chennai city leads with as many as 689 accidents out of 5173 accidents reported in Tamil Nadu in January.
