Art is in itself considered a divine gift. Be it in the form of performing art; Music or Dance or even fine art as Painting! Would it not be very special and utmost divine when art is emerging from the hands [and feet] of the disabled, the differently-abled or the specially-abled?
This is truly the case with these unique six differently-abled artists supported by the HeART BEAT Foundation Chennai. [ www.heartbeatfoundation.in ] This Trust, which was established in April 2014 and well into the sixth year, has been engaged in identifying specially-abled artists and promoting the works of art across established art galleries, Institutions across the cities in India. They have so far been able to project the works of 5 differently-abled artists and
raise Rs 22 lacs – 100% of the sale proceeds have gone to these deserving artists for their medical needs and sustenance.
Three of these artists are self-taught, paint for passion, despite their cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy, venous arterio malfunction or speech & hearing impairment: even using their feet to paint or embroider, work just their right thumb/index finger, when the rest of the body is totally paralysed.
HeART BEAT Foundation and the Trustees V S Ramana and Jayashree, have been instrumental along with a group of art lovers and passionate friends have been focusing their energies into such events – organizing art shows, holding motivational workshops and spreading their art and achievements of these differently-abled artists.
