As the divine marriage of the Vaishnavite Saint Andal (one of the 12 Alwars) with Lord Ranganathar is to be performed today (Saturday, 3rd August), some changes have been made in the Darshan Timings of Lord Athi Varadhar.
Today is 34th day of the Lord Athi Varadhar Vaibhavam.
At the same time, it is a tradition to perform the divine marriage of the Vaishnavite Saint Andal (one of the 12 Alwars who had the decision to marry the Lord Krishna (Ranganathar from the childhood) with Lord Ranganathar on the sacred day of Aadi Pooram (the day when one of the 27 stars Pooram falls in the Tamil Calendar month of Aadi) every year in a grand manner. Accordingly, today is the Aadi Pooram day and the divine marriage is scheduled to be performed.
This year, the Lord Athi Varadhar Vaibhavam is also in progress (for 48 days) - So, the Darshan timings for Lord Athi Varadhar have been changed because of the divine marriage. In order to carry out the necessary arrangements for this revised schedule, it has been announced the Entry through Eastern Gates would be closed at 2.00 PM.
However, the Darshan schedule of Lord Athi Varadhar will be stopped at 5.00 PM today to perform the divine marriage. After this event, the Darshan for Lord Athi Varadhar will be resumed at 8.00 PM up to 10.00 PM.
As the grand Lord Athi Varadhar Vaibhavam is drawing to a close on 17th August, the District Collector of Kanchipuram has announced that the Darshan will be closed at 5.00 PM on 17th August.
