Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar cancelled on the proposed last day on 17th August!

It has been announced that the Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar on the scheduled last day of 17th August has been cancelled.

The main deity of the famous Kanchipuram Varadharaja Perumal Temple is Lord Athi Varadhar. As per tradition, he is taken out from the Anantha Saras pond once in 40 years and offers Darshan for the devotees for 48 days!

Accordingly, after the last time in 1979, the deity of Lord Athi Varadhar was taken out this year 2019 and the deity of Lord Athi Varadhar has been offering Darshan to lakhs of devotees from 1st August. The Vaibhav or festival was set to conclude on 17th August.

However, it has recently been announced that the schedule of Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar will be stopped a day earlier - the last day of Darshan will be 16th August (night).

Until the night of 16th August, Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar is available.

However, it has now been informed that ‘poojas’ have to be performed as per the tradition and Agama Pooja regulations and then the deity of Lord Athi Varadhar will be lowered into the pond again.

Over the last 38 days, 70.25 Lakhs devotees had Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar. Further, on a single day yesterday alone (Wednesday, 7th August), over 3 lakhs devotees had Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar.
