On Saturday, 31st August 2019, CMRL handed over a letter to the traffic personnel and in the letter it was mentioned that CMRL was ready to re-lay the stretch between LIC and Whites Road Junction on the Anna Salai to facilitate two- way traffic.
It is now said that on this popular Anna Salai in Chennai between LIC and Whites Road junction, the Chennai city traffic police would allow two- way traffic on the trial basis.
Information is CMRL has agreed to re-lay the stretches in the night time as the roads along the stretch are in poor condition. It must not be forgotten that CMRL had taken the stretch some 8 years back for the sake of underground works.
It was later mentioned by some sources belonging to the CMRL that CMRL is ready now. An official of CMRL spoke about how the construction of few entries/exists at LIC, Thousand Lights and Government Estate is almost completed now. He assured that the last minute works would also be completed in another few days of time. Finally, he highlighted that traffic police have been informed about making the stretch two-way.
It is important to note that no date has been fixed for allowing two-way traffic in the stretch present in the Anna Salai. The point to be noted is allowing two-way traffic on the stretch would be carried out on trial basis. This was according to a senior police official belonging to Chennai city traffic department.
On the two km stretch, works such as construction of a median, repairing of pot holes and putting bitumen etc are pending now. It is now said that the trial for the two-way traffic would be carried out soon. Information is for re-opening the two-way traffic, the completion certificate is important and CMRL is yet to issue the certificate.
