Facility introduced to withdraw cash using Aadhar cards

India Post Payments Bank (IPB) has introduced the facility to withdraw cash using Aadhar cards.

With this facility, the individuals having savings accounts in any bank can withdraw cash from IPB using the Aadhar card!

The 1st Anniversary function of IPB (India Post Payments Bank) and the function of the launch of the facility to withdraw cash with Aadhar Cards was organised yesterday (Tuesday, 3rd September) on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Postal Department.

The Chief of the Tamil Nadu Postal Department, M. Sampath participated in the above functions as the Special Guest and launched the facility for withdrawing cash using Aadhar cards. He shared:

‘I P B (Indian Post Payment Bank) was launched during September last year. Thus, it has completed the 1st year in operation! During this 1 year, IPB branches have been opened in 37 districts in Tamil Nadu State and over 11121 bank service centres have been set up.

Out of this. Over 8580 bank service centres are located in the rural/village areas. During this last 1 year, 3.93 New Savings Accounts and Current Accounts have been opened. In this situation, presently, the facility is being introduced to withdraw cash using the Aadhar cards.

With this, irrespective of the bank where the savings account is kept, the individuals can withdraw cash using Aadhar cards in the IPB. There is no need for them to open an account with IPB!

The residents in the rural/village areas need to travel 5 to 10 km to visit the bank! This would certainly affect their other daily chores. With this new facility, they can visit the nearest Post Office from their residences and withdraw cash using Aadhar cards. This would save unnecessary travel as well as substantial time lost!`

Chennai City Postal Department Chief R. Anand and the Deputy General manager of India Post Payment Bank Vijayan Kesavan participated in these functions.
