As the track maintenance activities and laying concrete floors are in progress, Nellai & Podhigai Express trains will start from Tambaram Railway Station.

More than 12 electric trains are being operated daily from Chennai Egmore Railway Station to the Tamil Nadu southern districts of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Sengottai, Thoothukudi, Madurai, and Trichy. More than 50000 passengers avail of these journeys.

The track maintenance work and the fresh laying of concrete flooring are in progress on the 4th Railway Platform in the Chennai Egmore Railway Station.  Hence the Nallai and Podhigai Express trains (starting at 7.50 PM and 9.00 PM respectively), which usually start from the above 4th platform in Egmore station, will start from Tambaram from today (Thursday, 10th October) as per the newly allotted timings. On the return trip, Podhigai Express will reach Tambaram at 5.30 AM and the Nellai Express will reach Tambaram at 5.53 AM.

The passengers can take the suburban electric trains/buses/auto to reach their destinations.

The passengers have demanded that more special trains must be operated. However, presently, this is impossible. As the tracks have been completely dismantled and fresh concrete flooring is being laid, no trains can be operated from platform 4.  So, the chances of operating new special trains are very less.

So, giving due consideration to the hardships of the passengers, the ongoing work will be expedited and completed quickly.

Once the maintenance work is over, official announcements will be released and operations will be resumed as usual from the Egmore Railway Station.’
