IT firms’ property tax upped

The Chennai Corporation passed a resolution during a council meeting to up the property tax for IT firms across the city. The resolution will now be passed on to the Tamil Nadu Government for its approval.

The amount of tax varies according to the area in which the firm is situated. The tax amount will be 200 per cent more for those firms located in Anna Nagar, Teynampet, Kodambakkam and Adyar. Those firms situated in Manali, Royapuram, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar and Sholinganallur will have a 100 per cent increase. Institutions in Valasaravakkam will have a 75 per cent increase while those in Alandur, Ambattur and Tiruvottiyur will have a 50 per cent increase.
