Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu orders construction of warehouses to store food grains

The Tamil Nadu Government has been distributing 20 kilos of rice free of cost to all family card holders. Now the problem is the storage of these food grains because of non availability of storage place. So the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has ordered to construct 37 godowns in the first phase.

 The modern godowns will help store 1.46 lakhs metric tonne of food grains. It will cost Rs 117.2 crores, The warehouses would come up in Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, Villupuram, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Namakkal, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupur, Tuticorin, Tiruvallur, Trichy, Karur, Ramanathapuram, Erode, Dharmapuri, Salem and Vellore districts.
