For many motorists who frequently use Chennai-Trichy NH, here comes an amazing piece of information that would make you feel happy!!
From Thursday midnight onwards, the old Palar Bridge in Mamandur would be re-opened for 2-way traffic. It is learnt that the new bridge that is parallel to the old bridge would remain closed for more than a month due to the repair work. This would provide huge relief for the motorists. Earlier in February 2022, work to strengthen the old Palar Bridge at Mamandur was taken up. Truth is that the vehicles that take this route were diverted through a parallel bridge and through another route. The traffic got affected here and there were long snarls on the route. This was witnessed mostly in the peak hours.
Mr. A.R. Rahulnath, collector of Chengalpet made his presence felt here on Wednesday. He inspected the bridge works and spoke about how the renovation of the old bridge was almost over. He hinted that the bridge would be open for public use from Thursday midnight onwards.
The repair of the new bridge has been progressing well and it will be completed before 20th of March. This was according to an official.
