Wearing facemasks and maintaining social distancing have gone for a toss now!!
Amidst the increasing Covid-19 cases, wearing of facemasks and maintaining social distancing etc are not followed now by many in Chennai and in Tamil Nadu. In the state of TN, there are now 488 active Covid-19 cases and majority of the cases are present in Chennai. Many people are not following the Covid-19 norms inspite of fines etc and compliance has been poor in Chennai and in Tamil Nadu.
It is sensational to mention here that an amount of Rs 110 crores from more than 60lakhs people in TN has been collected for not following Covid-19 protocols. This has been from March 2020 onwards. It must not be forgotten that 6 days back TN government has instructed the officers of public health, local administration and police department etc to impose a fine amount of Rs 500 on those who did not wear facemasks and not maintain social distance etc.
General physician, Dr. Mohammad Kaasim spoke about how wearing a facemask was very important as it would prevent cough droplets from reaching the uninfected. In addition, wearing facemasks would also prevent uninfected people from breathing in minute particles that infected persons would release while talking etc. In various grocery, meat, tea and vegetable shops in Chennai and TN, compliance has been very poor now.
Not wearing facemasks has become common now in public places. Those persons who have been fully vaccinated have stopped wearing facemasks now. During the weekends, many people roam in public places like markets etc without wearing facemasks.
It is important to note that wearing facemasks and maintaining social distancing are the 2 key things to avoid Coronavirus. Truth is that when Covid-19 was at its peak in Chennai the residents wore face masks etc but when the cases declined they ignored the facemasks.
