In the first week of August, CMRL grabbed many eyeballs after it introduced feeder bus services from the airport to Tambaram for helping the passengers. Now, the residents demand the feeder services must be re-routed as bus S100 runs parallel to GST. Here, around 20 MTC buses are plying. The residents belonging to localities like Hasthinapuram, Chitlapakkm and east Tambaram are unhappy that the feeder buses skip their localities.
From airport metro station, the feeder bus services start and they go till MIT flyover in Chromepet along the GST Road. Fact is that the need for the feeder bus services is more after this point only.
Mr. Dayanand Krishnan, an activist spoke about how the route covers just a distance of 1.5km of Chitlapakkam First Main Road and Second Main Road having MIT hostel, Mount Union office and Chitlapakkam Lake for 1 km and how just 0.5km was the residential area. He concluded that the purpose of having feeder bus services was not solved.
As per a resident belonging to Hasthinapuram, Chitlappakm has got a population of around 60000 but Hasthinapuram and east Tambaram each have got more than one lakh population.
He threw light on the route of the feeder bus services and said these feeder buses travel through Bharatha Matha Street in east Tambaram and goes till Tambaram east MCC College and then goes towards west Tambaram. There are already many shorter route buses available from the airport to Tambaram and the feeder buses were not needed in the above said route.
