Good day everyone! In the latest news, vegetable prices in the city of Tamil Nadu have significantly dropped due to sufficient supply from other parts of the state and neighbouring areas. According to local traders, prices are expected to remain stable or even decrease further for the next 10 days.

However, with the second crop set to begin on March 20, the yield and production are expected to decline, leading to a potential 20-30% surge in rates towards the end of the month.

The Koyambedu wholesale market, which receives at least 500-520 vehicles of perishable commodities for over a month, has seen a significant decrease in vegetable prices. At present, onions, potatoes, and beetroot are being sold for Rs 10-15 per kg each, while tomatoes are priced at Rs 30 per kg. Beans, broad beans, and lady`s finger are being sold for Rs 40-60 per kg, Rs 35-60 per kg, and Rs 50 per kg respectively. Watery vegetables like cucumber, chow chow, pumpkin, and bottle gourd are sold for less than Rs 20 per kg each.

The Secretary of the Koyambedu Wholesale Market Merchants Association has stated that during the first crop cultivation, there was an increase in vegetable production, leading to a stable and decreased price in the market. Even the watery vegetable rate is yet to surge despite the summer season because of the consistent flow of commodities.

That`s all for now, folks. Stay tuned for more updates on the latest news and events.
