The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has announced that all property owners MUST pay the due Property Tax before 31st March, as per the Corporation Municipal Act. Property owners MUST pay the due Property Tax at the start of every half-year. An incentive of 5% of the tax amount (a maximum of Rs. 5000/-) is being paid to owners who pay the Property Tax on time! Owners who make delayed payments of the Property Tax need to pay an additional 2% of the due tax as a penalty.
Property owners may pay the Property Tax to the GCC person visiting the house through BPPNOR or visiting the E-Service Centres set up at all the Greater Chennai Corporation Zonal Complexes. Additionally, there are other payment methods available.
As of 9th March, over 8 lakh Property Owners have paid the Property Tax for the second half-year of the Financial Year 2022-23. However, the remaining 5 lakh Property Owners have not yet paid the Due Property Tax and have kept it pending.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE ONLY 18 DAYS REMAINING BEFORE THE CONCLUSION OF THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2022-23. As such, Property Owners are strongly advised to use this period to pay the Property Tax before 31st March!
