The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed us that there are prospects for the intensity of the scorching summer over the last few days to reduce after 2 days due to a cyclonic formation developed in the lower layers of the atmosphere over Tamil Nadu.

In a session with the press reporters, the Director of the Southern Region of the Indian Meteorological Department stated:

"There is a cyclonic formation prevailing in the lower layers of the atmosphere over South India. Due to this, there are prospects of medium rainfall today (Thursday, 19th May) in 1 or 2 places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikkal.

The sea breeze was affected due to cyclone Mocha. Presently, a mild sea breeze has started blowing again! It has been a scorching summer in several places throughout the country.

Note that today`s (Thursday, 19th May) maximum temperature may exceed the normal temperature by as much as 7 degrees Fahrenheit!

In this situation, as there is a cyclonic formation prevailing in the lower layers of the atmosphere over Tamil Nadu, there are prospects for the maximum temperature to come down.

The temperature in Chennai Metro City and its suburbs may be 89 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit."
