As the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a heat wave warning for several parts of Tamil Nadu, district collectors are ensuring necessary precautions are in place to mitigate the effects. The IMD has forecasted heat waves for the upcoming days in the state.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has already directed collectors to prioritize the availability of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) in government hospitals and take all necessary measures to ensure proper medical treatment for those affected by the heat.
Additionally, district collectors are ensuring the availability of first-aid kits for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) workers, along with stocking ORS in all hospitals and health centers across the state.
The government has also advised long-distance travelers to make necessary preparations, including carrying bottled water and taking precautions to prevent dehydration in the rising temperatures.
Furthermore, district collectors have instructed local bodies such as gram panchayats and municipalities to ensure the availability of drinking water and first-aid kits at bus terminuses, markets, government offices, hospitals, tourist spots, and places of worship.
To combat the heat, the Chief Minister has already directed workers to start and finish their work early. The government has also provided instructions to workers in construction sites, agricultural fields, and road construction to exercise caution and avoid working during peak hours.
With these proactive measures, the Tamil Nadu government aims to safeguard the well-being of its residents during the anticipated heat wave.
