Capturing traffic violations in both static as well as in the dynamic mode!!

For the first ever time in south India, a new system to catch the traffic violators has been put into use and this is making news now.

It is learnt that the Chennai traffic police personnel  have added 2 patrol vehicles with Vehicle interceptor System. A 360 degrees ANPR camera has been fitted and enabled with a 2-D Radar system to capture several traffic violations in Chennai. An amount of Rs 22.4lakhs has been spent for buying this Vehicle Interceptor System.

Those motorists who do not wear helmets, triples riding, using mobile phones while driving etc would be caught with the help of the Interceptor. Information is that after the traffic violations are captured by the camera and after validation in the control room a challan would be generated.

The superb piece of news is that this Vehicle interceptor System would capture the traffic violations in both static and in dynamic mode. For both parked as well as for moving vehicles, traffic violations could be captured now.

Chennai city police is now concentrating on technology intensive enforcement in addition to manpower. This was pointed out by Mr. Shankar Jiwal, Commissioner of Police, Chennai. HE grabbed many eyeballs when he introduced this Vehicle Interceptor System and several traffic equipment worth Rs 92 lakhs. He then shed light on how normally Rs 2 cr would be allotted from the Road Safety fund and how now rs 10 cr has been allotted.
