A special Dengue fever check and treatment camp was organized by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on Friday, October 13th, at the Chennai Metro City Koyambedu wholesale vegetable, flower, and fruit supermarket. Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, the Commissioner of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), visited the camp for inspection.
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has been implementing various initiatives to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as malaria and dengue in the areas under its jurisdiction. One of the issues they have identified is the large number of uncared-for and unattended vehicles parked along the roads and pavements in Chennai Metro City. This has resulted in rainwater stagnating on these vehicles, leading to the breeding of mosquitoes. As a response, the GCC has launched a significant effort to remove these unattended vehicles from the roads and streets.
Following this initiative, a special medical camp for the diagnosis and treatment of dengue fever was held at the Chennai Koyambedu wholesale flower market. Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner Dr. J. Radhakrishnan personally visited this special medical camp to conduct an inspection. During his visit, he distributed awareness leaflets about the prevention of dengue fever to shop owners and the general public.
Subsequently, Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, the GCC Commissioner, also inspected the ongoing efforts to remove the vehicles that had been left unattended for an extended period near the Udhayam Movie Theatre.
The inspection visit by the Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner Dr. J. Radhakrishnan was attended by additional Commissioner for Health Sankarlal Kumawat, Chief Engineer (Solid Waste Management) N. Magesan, Zonal Officer S. Paul Princely, and other officials.
