The 9 day festival is celebrated as Navarathri by the Tamilians, and as Durga Pooja by the Bengalis is a well known fact.
There are many Bengalis in Chennai and they celebrated Durga Puja in a grand manner.. On 15th October, Bengal Association in T. Nagar initiated Navarathri or Durga Puja celebrations in Chennai. The decorated pandals with Durga idols caught the attention of many. There were many cultural programmes and pushpanjali rituals etc and many took part in these with huge interest.
According to Mr. Ravi Shankar Roy, a former executive committee member of the Bengali Association, Chennai, it was clear that the last one week was simply superb. He threw light on how devotees belonging to various cultures came together to celebrate this important festival.
Famous singer Sri. Raghav Chatterjee made many heads turn with his amazing performance on pandal on 23rd October. It is noteworthy that the food stalls had lots of Bengali delicacies.
