After the deadly Cyclone Michaung last week, Chennai is slowly turning normal. In this scenario, IMD has mentioned that there would be more rains in Chennai in this coming weekend.
Moderate intensity rains would be there in Chennai and along the TN coast between 15th and 17th of December due to a trough or low pressure region. It is learnt that IMD has issued a yellow alert for parts of delta region and south coastal TN during this weekend as they might get heavy rains.
Chennai and its suburbs might get light rainfall over some areas in the next 48 hours. The maximum temp would be 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum temp would be 23 degrees Celsius.
Trough in the easterlies might trigger rainfall activity along the coast of TN by 15th December. It was brought out by some meteorologists that Chennai might receive moderate intensity rainfall but regions below Karaikal would get intense rains.
Mr. N. Senthamarai Kannan, director, IMD spoke about how there was some variation in the forecast made by weather models. He added that there might be some moderate rainfall over Chennai. Delta regions and coastal TN might receive heavy rains. Point is that IMD has predicted heavy rains in one or two places in districts like Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli,Thoothukudi, Ramnathapuram, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai etc on 16th and 17th December.
On 15th and 16th December along the coastal TN and Chennai, there might be on and off rainfall of light to moderate intensity. This was as per the weather blogger Mr. Pradeep john.
