The city of Koyambedu is experiencing traffic diversions as a large number of people gather to pay their respects to the late DMDK leader and actor, Vijayakanth. His body has been placed at the DMDK headquarters, drawing crowds.
Vijayakanth, who was battling a COVID-19 infection and undergoing ventilator support due to breathing difficulties, passed away this morning. Political leaders, actors, and volunteers are expressing their condolences.
The procession, which began at 10:30 am from Virugambakkam, reached Koyambedu at 1:25 pm, en route to the DMD headquarters. Thousands have congregated at Koyambedu flyover, the party office, and surrounding areas, causing significant traffic disruptions.
Traffic diversions near Koyambedu flyover, Chennai, have been implemented due to heavy congestion. Motorists are advised to use Badi flyover, Thiruveedhi Amman Service Road, and Shanthikalani to navigate the affected areas.
