In an effort to facilitate the ongoing construction work by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), the Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has introduced a series of traffic diversions near St Thomas Mount Railway Station. The diversions are set to be implemented on a trial basis for a week starting this Wednesday.

As part of the diversions, vehicles approaching from GST Road will now need to make a left turn towards Alandur Subway, with heavy vehicles being restricted from using this route. Additionally, vehicles coming from MKN Road at the Railway Station road junction will no longer be allowed to proceed straight towards the St Thomas Mount post office. Those approaching from Alandur Subway are advised to either turn right or left to access GST Road, as outlined in the official release by GCTP.

In a separate move, the Chennai Police has also initiated traffic diversions in the Adyar area since Sunday. This measure aims to ease the proposed CMRL construction work at Indira Nagar, Adyar. Motorists are urged to cooperate with the authorities during this period of temporary adjustments to ensure smooth traffic flow.
