The State Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to make all data pertaining to `natham` land ownership deeds available through internet services. With this initiative, citizens can now transfer land ownership and even partition land online. The applications can be processed at Public Service Centers. This means that citizens can access details of their owned `natham` land and related maps from anywhere. Chief Minister M K Stalin has released an important notification regarding this.

When the then State Minister for Finance, P T R Pazhanivel Thyagarajan, presented the budget for 2023-24, he announced the implementation of a new procedure for registering sale deeds for lands. Accordingly, the change in procedure for transferring sale deed ownership is set to be implemented.

Previously, agricultural lands in villages, considered "purampokku" (unowned), were treated as free lands and remained unregistered. However, a decision has been made to allocate these open lands to long-time residents of the concerned localities. The survey, detailed listing of lands, and online registration of `natham` lands have commenced.

Chief Minister M K Stalin has explained that the facility for registering sale deeds online has been introduced. He further stated that guidelines for this new facility and procedure will be established shortly. Consequently, the long-time demand of local residents in `natham` lands for ownership of lands is set to be fulfilled, providing clear ownership to these residents.

For these services, individuals need to visit the official Tamil Nadu Government website: www.eservices.tn.gov.in. Applicants must attach all requisite documents. It`s important to note that the allotted lands can only be considered as village `natham` residential lands and cannot be used for commercial purposes.
