In anticipation of the upcoming Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) construction at Nandanam Metro Station, the Chennai Traffic Police has introduced a week-long trial of traffic diversions around Venkatanaryana Road starting this Sunday.
Closure of Venkat Narayanan Road: Vehicles heading from Anna Salai towards T.Nagar through Venkata Narayana Road will face restrictions at Nandanam Signal junction. They will be rerouted via Link Road (now designated as one way), Model House Road Junction, South West Boag Road (with a right turn), and a subsequent left turn onto Venkat Narayanan Road to reach their intended destinations.
Diversions for MTC Buses and Vehicles from Burkit Road: All vehicles, including MTC buses, coming from Burkit Road in T.Nagar through Mooparappan Street will be redirected with a right turn at South West Boag Road junction (one way), followed by a left turn onto CIT Nagar 4th Main Road and CIT Nagar 3rd Main Road to access Anna Salai.
Restrictions for South West Boag Road and South Dhandapani Street Traffic: Vehicles traveling from South West Boag Road and South Dhandapani Street are prohibited from proceeding towards Venkat Narayana Road. Instead, they are permitted to travel on CIT Nagar 4th Main Road and CIT Nagar 3rd Main Road, leading to Anna Salai for reaching their destinations.
This trial period aims to assess the effectiveness of the traffic diversions and ensure a smoother flow of traffic during the CMRL construction activities. Commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly and cooperate with the designated diversions for a hassle-free commute.
