The second Vande Bharat Express, set to run from Chennai to Mysuru, is scheduled for a virtual flag-off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. The initial service will operate between Chennai and Bengaluru until the first week of April due to scheduled works. Distinguished by an orange and white exterior, the new train boasts improved seat cushions, extended footrests in the executive chairs, and enhanced lighting facilities. The eight-coach train will exclusively feature sitting seats for its short-distance coverage.
Commencing its inaugural run at 9.15 am from MGR Chennai Central railway station, the train will stop at Katpadi and Krishnarajapuram before reaching Bengaluru at 2.20 pm. Operating every day except Wednesdays, the regular service between Mysuru and Chennai will extend to Mysuru starting April 5. While attributed to scheduled works, some critics question the urgency of launching the service in this modified format, alleging political motives ahead of the impending Lok Sabha elections.
