On 9th of April, there will be a road show for 2km of Indian PM Mr. Narendra Modi between Panagal Park in T. Nagar and Teynampet junction and TN unit of BJP is preparing for this. The entire stretch has been sanitised and fortified by the Chennai city police.
It is known to us that the stretch is a commercial hub with pedestrian plaza etc and due to that the police dept would conduct checks at shops, business centres, showrooms, hotels etc.
It was revealed by the Chennai police that they haven`t received any official confirmation regarding the Indian prime minister`s visit and the road show etc. Though there are as many as 35 exits on the stretch from Panagal Park and Teynampet Junction, the police personnel would allow the public to witness road shows at only limited entry points.
It must be taken into account that the public would be frisked thoroughly by the police personnel. There would be both hand held detectors as well as door framed metal detectors and the police personnel would use these. A security branch officer made it clear that the public who wants to witness the 2km roadshow must be present atleast 4 hours before the start.
From 3rd April to 1st June, the police dept has banned flying drones, using flash laser beam lights plus hot air balloons, tethered balloons, light emitting objects, fly gliders etc around the airspace near Chennai airport. Mr. Sandeep Rai Rathore IPS, Chennai police commissioner, discussed the security plans with his team.
