In order to run the traffic signals during the power cut in Chennai, UPS facility will come in play in about 100 high traffic congested areas. After the completion of this work, the traffic signal will serve without any break. In Chennai there are about 300 traffic signals in need to control the road accidents. During the power cut phase, particularly in peak hours without the traffic signal there will be more road congestion and continuous road accidents.
Hence, to find a solution for this problem, the traffic police have decided to run the
signal without any break using the UPS facility. From the government fund of
40Lakhs, UPS has been purchased for the traffic signals. Because of UPS,
specific 100 signals will run for 24 hours. This paves the way for the drivers
follow the road safety rules without any deviation.
For
the first phase, 100 signals, including Anna Salai, GST Road, Vadapalani, 100
Feet Road and so on are attached with UPS facility. The work is about 80
percent over and the rest will be soon completed. Once this phase of work is
completed, next 100 signals will get UPS facility.
