Thousands of damaged and old electricity poles replaced in Chennai

Thousands of damaged and old electricity poles in Chennai have been replaced. This great initiative was taken by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco). Nearly 4000 such poles were replaced.
The reasons for this replacement is due to poles were in a bad shape, leading to safety concerns. Also, the electricity department recognized the amount of energy loss because the overhead electricity cables had lost the required tension and the network needed more poles to be installed in between the old poles.
