Urban common service centres at 10 places in Chennai will be inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam while presenting the budget yesterday said the centres would provide a common platform to facilitate the remittance of various taxes and user charges like property tax, and electricity, sewage and water charges. These centres will also provide other public and e-services.
The number of centres in Chennai will be gradually increased to 200 and be extended to other Corporations, municipalities and town panchayats. These centres will be managed by the district e-governance societies under the overall control of the Information Technology Department.
