An NGO, Call for Change, has conducted a survey on the biggest civic problem in Chennai and found that 40 per cent of Chennaites find poor road conditions as the major issue. Pollution holds the second position with 13 per cent votes (from 388 people). Over 3100 people took part in the survey and they were all residents from various places. The participants were also told to give suggestions to rectify these issues.
Suggestions from various individuals are also uploaded in the website and voting can be made for what one considers to be appropriate solution. The idea of demarcation of roads suggested by Mr. R. Sundar received more number of votes.
- Handing over the drainage construction contract to larger companies
- Providing anti-mosquito spray to the public
- Cleaning the city’s waterways, etc
