“I had to quit a Hollywood project for Kaaviyathalaivan,” ARR

Veyyil, Angadi Theru and Aravan – next to this hit list, director Vasantha Balan is in full swing works for Kaviyathalaivan, a 1930s period film.  As the director`s earlier note, the film is all about Tamil theatre group during the pre-independence period. There were random talks about the film that its script is based on real love story of theatre cum film personalities, S.G. Kittappa and K.B.Sundarambal. But, the directed has a firm no for these. “I read Avvai Shanmugam’s biography and this inspired me to direct a film on theatre groups,” the director shared.

Isaipuyal A.R. Rahman will compose the music. The music director’s presence during the press meet that took place yesterday is evident of his active involvement in the film. Speaking to A.R. Rahman, he stated that he had to quit a project in Hollywood that he had in pipeline before finalizing Kaviyathalaivan. He also added that the film will have 20 songs out of which 8 are full length songs and rest are short ones to be played during drama sequences.
