Fortuity for Metro Rail Employees – Quarters in Koyambedu

CMRL was recently awarded as ‘Imminent Metro Rail Operator ‘ at the third Annual Metro Rail Summit 2014 structured by ITP publishing group in Gurgaon, Delhi.
Soon, Chennai Metro Rail Limited may begin the work of building staff quarters for its employees.
A Multi-Stored building will soon ground up in the depot in Koyambedu, which will accommodate nearly 50 houses for the CMRL Employees.Mostly our employees particularly our engineers and the drivers categorized in the Operational Control Centre (OCC) will be eligible for this quarters, CMRL officials insisted.
The quarters grounds for about 26 hectares and values Rs.198 Crores. Having this as core, the officials can easily monitor and control the passage of trains functioning across the city.For the purpose of maintenance, trains will be stationed near the depot, an official of CMRL said.
Main reason behind quarters is that, if the employees were near the depot they can easily reach the center at once in case of an urgent situation, he added.
Tenders have been invited and soon the work will commence to complete the quarters, says the CMRL official.
