Currently, the political parties and the partakers are very active in whooping up the Lok Sabha Elections. At the same time, postal department is lending its hand to help electorates who will not be adept to drill their votes on the mock-up day.
Across Chennai city, several assistants and relationship officers have been appointed in about 30 post offices in order to relieve the pain of the people to shed their voters via postal polls on 24 April.
For example many government officials who will be in the election on-duty including tahsildars and deputy tahsildars and defence personnel’s cannot prompt their votes on the polling day. Hence in order to abet them to equip their voting rights, postal department in coupling with the election office facilitate the procedure of issuance and receiving the polls.
Moreover, the postmasters in selected offices like T.Nagar and Thiruvallur will behave as facilitation officers, stated by the authoritative officers of the postal department.
Postal ballots along with an envelope will be emanated to the voters from 10 April, said Mervin Alexander, the postmaster- general of the Chennai city region.Ballots will be allowed till 16 May and directly it will be passed on to the counting centres, before votes counting process, he added.
