The government of Tamil Nadu has already announced 24th April, election day, to be a public holiday for government employees. The government has also recommended that private concerns to declare holiday with salary on Election Day.
Parliamentary elections and the legislative assembly election for Alandur constituency is scheduled on 24th April. On this day, weekly market fairs will be held in many places.. The Election Commission has requested the district collectors to arrange this weekly market to be postponed to the next day, 25th April to facilitate voting.
In order to facilitate public voting without any fail, the government has requested ll private companies to declare holiday with salary. It has cited the People representative act 135 B of 1951.
Industries, food shops, garden firms, transport companies, and ‘beedi’ or ‘suruttu’ (pipe manufacturing shops will all remain closed (with salary) on 24th April to facilitate their workers to vote.
