The introduction of many mini buses in rare routes few months ago, has brings in jollity to suburban commuters. Till now they have wholly depends on the auto rickshaws to get hold of their destinations.
As part of the second phase of the work, few bus routes including S6 (Tambaram East- Vengambakkam), S8 (Hasthinapuram-Tambaram West) and S7 (Pallavaram-Pammal VOC Nagar) have been introduced in the southern suburbs.
We are all highly benefited by the new mini bus routing from Tambaram via Sanatorium which covers many parts of the Chitlampakkam, said L. Sundararaman, President of Chitlampakkam Muthulakshmi Nagar Welfare Association.
The launch of mini buses, has descends the use of autos to a high level because of its frequency, stated S. Ramesh of East Tambaram. He also suggested that more number of mini bus services is needed beneath the flyover close to Tambaram Sanatorium railway station.
As of now, the buses have been operated from Pallavaram to Chromepet via Pammal and Nagalkeni; if we get new or extended mini bus services up to Thiruneermalai, then nearly thousands of commuters will be benefited, says S. Muthulakshmi a resident of Nagalkeni.
These mini bus services help many commuters to reach the core bus stops and railway stations; also Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) gains a profit of Rs.5000 on per route, said a senior MTC official.
