On continuation on the announcement of the poll day on 24 April, as per the prediction, the Indian Meteorological Department stated that the maximum temperature in the city on the poll day will hang around 360 celsius.

Chennai constitutes around 3,337 polling booths in the three Lok Sabha electorates.

In order to bring in a healthy able-bodied 13, 000 polling officials, the Chennai Corporation along with the Election Commission has planned for many healthy measures for the duration from 7 AM to 6 PM.

Each and every poll booth will be facilitated with the packets of drinking water and oral rehydration salts; also every booth will be stuffed with the first-aid kit and a 108 ambulance service will also stand nearby the booth, said chief electoral officer Praveen Kumar.

With this boiling heat, staying hydrated for long hours is highly essential. Intake of lot of fluids and digestion of salt will help the people to get out of various signs of dehydration including dizziness, keg cramps, giddiness and faint, said S. Manjunath, a physician and Chief Head of the common medicine Department at Sri Ramachandra University.

On a day before the election, the civic body must make sure on the cleanliness of the grounds of the polling booths facilitated with all required amenities, said a senior Corporation official.
