Prevention Act 144 in force in Tamil Nadu from Tuesday (22nd April) –for the first time during elections

Tamil Nadu State Chief Election Officer, Mr. Praveen Kumar informed that Prevention Act 144 will be in force from 6 PM Tuesday (22nd April).

This is the first time Act 144 is enforced in Tamil Nadu during an election.

Mr. Praveen Kumar met the press reporters at the Chief Secretariat. He informed all arrangements have been made so that no untoward incidents happen during the election. The flying squad will be in operation before the start of the election.7000 personnel are deployed in the flying squad.

Percentage turn-out of voters will be announced at 9 AM, 11 AM, and 1 PM n the polling day. Advertisements for election can be published in Newspapers till day-after-tomorrow. Voters can vote by presenting 12 identity proofs including Aadhar card, passport, etc.

Prevention Act 144 will be in force from 6 PM on 22nd April. This is in order to ensure a peaceful and disturbance-free election and check and prevent exchange of money.

He requested the voters to avoid receiving any money and vote with conscience.
