Various parts of the Chennai city, seems to be engaged in recommencing the work on imparting of roads, once after the conclusion of the Lok Sabha election in TamilNadu.

Work has been initiated well before the election and recently it has been put on hold for the poll task. Now it regains its drive and it is expected that there won’t be any hindrance for the road work from the political parties as the Lok sabha elections has been concluded, said an official of Chennai Corporation.

Earlier, a severe antagonism has been raised against the road work mainly in the areas like Triplicane, Saidapet and T.Nagar.

A few weeks ago, concrete road works in the stretches of Hyder Ali Khan Road, Triplicane and Seshachalam Road in Saidapet were bunged by frantic political parties, said the senior official.

Even road works on mini road stretches has been clogged, as because of passionate political campaigning by senior political creams like DMK leader M. Karunanidhi, Chief Minister Jayalalitha and DMDK leader Vijayakanth across the city.

Despite congestions, around 800 out of the total 1,063 concrete roads have been furnished so far.

A new project of cement concrete roads on 12 bus routes in Marina Loop Road will soon resume its work, at a cost of Rs. 76 Crores, Chennai Corporation revealed.
